Harry Potter card

I didn't meet up with my friends after all. I called it off because I was feeling poorly again.
I'm really struggling to get rid of this darn cough but I'm trying everything I can think of. it goes away for a day or two then comes straight back. ggrrrrrrrr.........

Yesterday was my step grandson's 6th birthday. He is a Harry Potter fan so there was only one card I could make.

I matted some yellow gingham patterned paper to a yellow base card. Next I used some Indigo Blu adhesive  to stamp stars all over the card and rub on gold flakes.
Next I  print and cut three Harry Potters using my Cameo and decoupaged them in the centre of the card.I added some glossy accents to his spectacles to give, it a little dimension. I covered his wand with gold glitter glue too.
Finally, I cut out happy birthday using a Harry Potter font and
edged it with a green distress pen.
 Job done!!

Stencilling

Before I show you my latest picture this  photo is an answer to Jann's questions about my metal page.
I used SELF ADHESIVE ALUMINIUM FOIL or as the USA call it aluminum foil. Its very thin and is about the same thickness as the foil you would use in the kitchen.
I bought mine in my local hardware store and there wasn't a manufactures name on the roll, sorry.  I believe is what the plumbers use to wrap around  pipes. Its not expensive at all. I know Rach0113 use additional thicker tape but I just used what I already had in my stash. Hope this has helped.

I've been gutted today, I thought my cough had gone but it came back with a vengeance yesterday  and today. My throat is just so sore with all this coughing ggggrrrrrr .......... Just have to battle through it because I don't want to spend most of my Easter break in bed
I carried on with some ore work in my journal  today.
This time I used some of my home made shimmer mist spray. You can see how to make your own in thew tutorial section of my blog.  I simply ripped the edges of the page then sprayed green, purple and pink mist over it. Once that dried I added drops of the same colour, I tried to make it look like splats  by blowing on the drops but it didn't look  great. Next I used  two Donna Downey Stencils, One was called chevron  arrows. The other is called perforated dots flower but to be honest I couldn't see the flower. I just liked the abstract look.
With the 1st stencil I just stippled some black paint onto the stencil. The arrows stood out too much against the softer colours so I softened them but putting a coat of white Gesso over them.
Finally I used the 2nd stencil I didn't use the while stencil because my page was much smaller than the stencil so you don't see the dots I  added some pearlised dimensional paint by Heritage Crafts.

Tomorrow I'm not crafting.  I'm going to Worcester to meet up with very dear friends so it'll be  a day spent chatting and laughing! If that doesn't cheer me up nothing will!!

METAL

Today I went to the Crafty Friends group and made two cards using the fairies I'd stamped and coloured before. I found the backing paper at last so use that. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of them because it was two member's birthdays and I gave them the cards I'd made.
Ah well, never mind. Instead I'll post a picture of the page I decorated in my journal today.
This page was inspired by Rach0113 who did a similar design on apiece of card a while ago. She is a very talented young lady. You can see her video on Youtube HERE. Thank you Rach0113 for the video.
I cut out some letters from card as well as some label shapes, using my Cameo.
I adhered some wall mesh tape to parts f my page and adhered the card shapes. Once the glue was dry I covered the whole page with some metal foil tape. I used my embossing tool and rubbed the shapes so the  tape molded to the texture underneath. I used a small circle shape from on old pen and pressed it into the tags and some of the letters to make them look like rivets and screws.
I also made some other texture but running little texture rollers over the metal. Next I covered a piece of card with the foil tape then using an embossing folder run it through  my Bigshot. I cut  two little quares and adhered the cogs to the page.

I covered the page with dark red acrylic paint then before it dried wiped most of it off so just bits of red stayed. I repeated the process this time with black paint and that finished the page.

I'm feeling better at last!

Corr what a couple of weeks its been. If it wasn't a tummy bug it was a nasty hacking cough that wore me out! I just couldn't face doing anything other than going to bed and sleeping.

Never mind things can only get better... I've managed to get some crafting done today. Here is a card I made at my local crop the Saturday before last. The crop was a class help by Debbie the Stampin Up representative.  I left early so didn't finish it all at the time so I completed it today.
Its a double easel card. The material is from Stampin up. We stamped the card suing a large flower die and then stamped and cut the flowers. we made the first section then the second flower which was place at the front of the base  of the larger card.

The brad acted as the stopper for the smaller card. I think it makes a nice Easter card.

Next I finally finished off that box sectioned box I started weeks ago. I adhered the fibrous buterfly to the to and added a key to make the body.
I had a flower mobile made from the same material as the butterfly . I cut one of the flowers and placed it in the base of the square then adhered the heart frame in the centre and finished that section with another butterfly that was off a cheap pair of ear rings. The rst f the squares I added the embellishments you can see.
I finished it off by painting the sides and top with blue acrylic paint and stamped with some lettering stamps randomly stamped on the sides.
I  the paint go over the edge of the triangle section just to soften/ distress the shape a bit because I thought it looked too regular ... if you know what I mean.
I fancy doing some work in my art journal next. I haven't done any of that in months.... but I've also got to carry one with that folio album I started too. ... one thing at a time though.

Still poorly

Sorry folks, this tummy bug is taking longer to go away than I expected. I thought I was over it but it seems to have returned. I just need to remain in close proximity to the bathroom!!  I think a visit to the doctor is called for .......

I'll be back crafting as soon as I can.

Ipad cover

Woohooo I'm back!  Tonight I decided to make a cover for my iPad. I keep my iPad in my work bag, my handbag and lots of other places and I was conscious that I have sharp or pointed things in my bags that might damage my iPad. I bought some owl fabric and some wadding from a local sewing shop. I cut  2 rectangles and sandwiched them with wadding. I sewed them together and sewed across the two layered to create a quilt. I  folded the piece to create the bag with a flap lid.  I then sewed the top of another piece of fabric and placed it onto the front to make a pocket to hold my ear phones and stylus.

Finally I sewed the sides together and added two loops and buttons to make the fasteners.

I've used clear buttons temporarily and I hope to find some owl shape buttons that I can swap.
I'm pleased with it even though my sewing wasn't very straight but I can live with that LOL
Why did I chose  owl fabric? Because it matches the new handbag my son bought for my birthday!

Mother's Day

Hello Peeps! My feet have barely touched the ground this last week and things don't seem to be letting up until after next weekend.
I was put into a panic when I realised its Mother's Day next Sunday and I hadn't even thought about a card. It was a case of getting my reports done and a quick into my craft room to get a card made for my mother in law.
I'm just so grateful for my Cameo and the UKScrappers website. I downloaded  a Tina Fitch file from the Template section of the Craft Robo forum. I cut out the shapes from some patterned paper from my stash and the card itself was made from textured card stock from the Papermill.  I built up the pieces and finished it off with some liquid. I'm sorry the picture is sideways, I couldN't alter on my iPad!
