Baby brag book 2

Gosh I seem to be doing nothing but baby books at the moment. I've started the brag book for my next grandchild. I've used the same design as the last one with a slight difference. I adhered the sides of the pages to both sides of the concertina.

There I was being ever so careful to make sure the covers matched and were facing the right way. I did the same with the pages inside...... DOH!! Blooper !!!.............. can you spot the mistake???? YES the butterfly page is upside down!! How can I be so silly as to do the very thing I was trying to avoid? I guess I'm in too much of a rush to finish the book before the baby arrives...... whats the saying?.... More haste less speed!!

Graduation Layouts done!!

Despite a busy day shopping for baby things I did manage to complete the layouts for my son's graduation.
As with the other two layouts, I used Smilebox to create the centre piece. I printed off an extra copy and cut out elements to decoupage the text and swirl.
I cut blocks of of paper from my stash and layered them on the left hand side of the background paper. I added a banner under the picture. I cut out some "note paper" using a Fiskars edge punch and fixed it to the top of the spotty strip. I used the left over from the punch and adhered it to the bottom of the banner. I used some ric-rac card, left over from the previous layout, to adhere and frame the photo.
Oh yes, I recoloured the banner using distress ink so it would coordinate with the theme. I finished it off with some brads from Stampin Up.

The second .....or should I say the fourth layout was layered using purple patterned paper from Tim Holtz Ideology pad the green centre was from my stash. I, again, cut out graduates in black card and adhered them to the two layers. I wrapped some black and white ribbon around the bottom of the green card and finished it with a bow.
Like the other layout I decoupaged the text and swirl.
I decoupaged the photo elements and placed it on top of the background....... done!

Granny again!!

Sorry folks. Home life has taken over  a bit. Just discovered my daughter is 38 weeks pregnant so crafting has been put on the back burner for a while. The doctors kept telling her she wasn't pregnant and she had a scan for something else and the baby was discovered! Been a mad panic getting baby things for her  yesterday and today.  Two grandkids in a month is hard work!! LOL.

OMG do I have time to make another  baby brag book??? ARRRRRRRGHHHHH!!!

Graduation Layouts

It's been so busy in work an at home I haven't had much time to do any crafting. Things should quieten down in a few weeks ......... hopefully!
I made two layouts for my son's graduation this evening. I used "Smilebox" to create a digital centre  piece. I then mated and layered the photo with greeny/beige paper then plain blue linen textured card stock. The blue is Bazill  cardstock. The background card is from the A La  Creme collection. I adhered some black and white ribbon around the edge of the mat and tied a bow in the corner and fixed the bow with a Stamping Up brad.
I cut out some "ric rac" strips from cream pearlised  and black card.. I edged the cream ric rac with Shabby Shutter distress ink and adhered it to the  mat. I added a flower I had hanging around and changed the centre to a SU brad. I adhered the black ric rac so that it would be in line with the cream ric rac. I cut a strip of striped paper and layered it horizontally across the background. I then adhered the photo and mat to the background so that everything lined up. I distressed the edge of the background with shabby shutter and then a thinner line of Stormy blue Distress ink. I just wanted a fairly clean and simple design for the first page.

The next page will be the last one of the collection.... I intend to do four layouts.  Again I used Smilebox to design the group of photos and a small background. I used one of those label makers to type little strips to go under each photo.
I used my Cameo to create a black mat that was edged with graduates throwing their hats and adhered it to the photo. I cut and added another layer  to the bottom of the photo. The spotted paper is from the Portobello Road collection. Next I ripped the edge of some striped paper from my stash and curled up some of the edges. I adhered this to  bluey/purple Bazill cardstock and added the rest of the photo and mat. I added some extra hats to the layout then distressed the edge of the card stock with a distressing tool to roughen up the edges. I wanted this one to be different in design but still coordinating the colours.

The  bay was only 4 days old when these photos were taken and His proud dad insisted I make him a little graduation outfit to wear on the day. The was a big hit and made it into several of our local newspapers! Not a month old and he's already famous , he's being recognised  when he's out and about   with his mum!

Playing with embossing powder and glitter

Tonight I just played about with  some gilding flakes, glitter and embossing powders.

I made the green card with  a tree acrylic "Stamp by Chloe" and used gilding flakes . I tried adding some  gold embossing powder by drawing a few strokes with an embossing pen and  some gold powder  over a few of the snowflakes" The results were ok but not brilliant. I finished it off with some gems.

The second small red card  I stamped  with some Versamark and covered with gold embossing powder. I tried to add some coarse glitter to it and reheated the embossing powder. Again it wasn't great, the glitter was too coarse and didn't stick very well. Next I brushed some perfect pearls over it and reheated it. It turned the gold  to a silver colour. Like the other one I finished it off with some red gems and peel offs around the edge. The gems  certainly lifted the card.
The large was stamped with another Stamps by Chloe, this time a star shape.  Now I mixed  gold embossing powder, fine gold glitter a pinch of perfect pearls and some clear holographic embossing powder all together. I stamped with Versamark again and covered it with the mixture. The result was great the  image remained fine but had a lovely fine sparkle to it.  I coloured some clear gems green using some green Promarkers and adhered them tot he star, I also added a few red gems too. I did add some peel off words but I don't like them. I expect I'll just cut out the star and use it as a topper eventualy.

My experiments had mixed results but it was just so much fun messing about.
Oh ne piece of advice.... don't wear black trousers when using glitter and powder, black shows up every tiny little speck!!!

September Tag

With all the things that hae been going on this past week I almost forgot it was September and time to do the Tim Holtz September tag. Tim's website seems to be down so I couldn't see exactly what he'd done. I found an image so worked on the tag from his image on the web.

I used some metallic insulating tape to cover the tag. I textured the foil by running  pieces through different embossing folders prior to adhering to the tag. I brushed some pewter coloured acrylic paint over the tag  and wiped off the excess.
Next I ripped some Papermania Book Print paper and distressed it with some antique linen ink before layering it on top of the tag.
I cut a typewriter from Tim Holtz die and then turned to my Cameo. I cut out my own cogs and film strip from black card.
I also cut a number 3 using a typewriter font. These were all adhered to the tag. I typed out and printed the text in Word and again used a typewriter font. I cut out the wording and curled the edges before adhering it on top of the typewriter.
I finished it off with some black ribbon fixed with a brad from Stampin Up.
I haven't  put much of my own design into the project because my head is still full of pages I want to do about the baby, but I wanted to do something different for now. I need to come up with some ideas for some layouts.

The cutting file for the cogs is  listed in the cutting file section of this blog. I'll post the file for the film strip tomorrow, I can't do it now because I'm using a different computer to the one with the file.

Brag book completed!!

Oh boy what a weeks its been! It started with the excitement of the birth of my first grandchild, then my middle son's graduation ceremony where I had to make a mini graduation outfit for my grandson to wear. He stole the show!  You can see the photo of him in the samples  in this post.
Saturday was the first Pink scrappers crop for the autumn. On top of that it was a busy start to the new term in work. My feet have hardly touched the ground!
Tonight, I finally completed my baby brag book by adding the photos of the baby and family. Here are a sample of the pages and tags I completed.

Birthday and Graduation

It's my great Niece's birthday on Sunday so I made a card for her tonight. The little girl is a digi stamp  I got from Whimsie doodles. I opened it in Studio and coloured the pieces then print and cut the image. I gave her some dimension by adding some swirls and dots of glossy accents on her hair, dress and pencil. I added some glitter dots to her wings as well. I  used the Cameo to write the text with a green glitter gel pen. I also added Glossy Accents to the crayon frame after that was printed and cut. I tried the elements against various background papers and nothing seemed to match so I left it  white.  I drew doodles in different coloured gels pens and edged the card with a border of colour using Promarkers.
I adhered the elements to the card with foam pads  and finished it off with some flower lace.
If you'd like to know how to colour digi stamps  in Silhouette Studio you can find a good tutorial here

Its my son's graduation, for his degree, tomorrow so I 'll be busy with my camera. He had his first graduation, for his diploma,  today and took his baby son with him. My son asked me to make a mini graduation outfit for my grandson to wear today. Awwww he looked so cute and  stole the show!! The organisers want  my son to take the baby again tomorrow but  its a long day and  too much for the baby two days in a row... after all he's only 4 days oldl!

Now that's what I call fast tracking... born on Monday ...... graduate Thursday!!

Graduation card

Card number two for the week has been completed at last. Its the graduation card for my son who graduates on Friday.
Part of the card is based on Dawn Olchefske's Graduation Hat card from 2010.
I adapted it by placing the card onto an easel card. I stamped the base and placed a printed a sentiment and cut it out with my Cameo. The top of the card was simply decorated with a red ribbon. The graduates for the base of the card as well as the edge of the top were cut out with my Cameo .
I rolled up a piece of scrap card and adhered a bow to form the stopper.

As you ca see he card has a double opening. The hat lifts up to reveal a sentiment as well as the easel part of the card.

Call me Granny!!

Yep I became a granny today. He arrived very quickly this morning. He's absolutely gorgeous!!!

I made my card. The idea for the baby bottle card came from Joyce at UKscrappers. I printed and cut out 6 bottles on while card stock and folded them in half. I adhered them together to  form the concertina effect.  This was then adhered to the card. Next I  printed out the wording using JLR Diaper Pin font onto yellow card. I cut the letters out and coloured the pins with Promarkers (metallic). I finished the card by running a blue Promarker around the edge of the card to create a border.
Now I need to make a graduation card ready for Friday. I also need to print off my baby photos and  add them to my brag book..... its all go at the moment!

Water bottle

Tomorrow is the first day back at work so I thought I ought to get a few things ready. A lot of my preparation has already been done during the holidays but I wanted to put my name on a few things..... well my mug and water bottles to be precise lol. Why do I need 2 water bottles? One is for water and the other is to take milk in to work for my coffee.

I got out my holographic vinyl, cut out my names and some butterflies and adhered them to the items. I hope the vinyl stays on them because its just vinyl I bought from  my local DIY store. I guess only time and washing up will tell.

Tomorrow is also an important day because my first grandson s likely to be born. The baby's mum is going to be induced. Everyone is just sooooooo  exited and looking forward to  our first grandchild!  I must get cracking on a baby card so its off to my craft room I go!!
