Brag book finished

Its been a busy few days  with my brother visiting us so I haven't had a chance to craft until tonight.
I cracked on with the baby brag book.
The left page was simply done by embossing the topper  and then edged with some floral washi tape. A simple flower finished the page.
I cut out some teddy bears and glued the top of them. I then rubbed some blue glitter over the glued side. The teddies were then adhered tot he side of the left page. I love the paper on the left page so decided not to mat it. I simply adhered some button with Pinflair and wrapped some bakers twine around the buttons to form a frame.
I completed two tags tonight.

The blue tag was embossed and the raised flowers filled with Glossy Accent. The green tag was simply mated and layered and two elephant elements adhered tot he corner. I added some faux stitching around the edge.

The other side of the tags were a bit more decorative. I cut  1/2 inch wide strips of paper and  used the reverse pattern on half of the strips. I created a weave pattern topper and adhered  it to the tag. I distressed the edges with Shabby Shutters Distress ink.

For the green tag I designed and cut a holey mat which I distressed with stormy skies ink.
I cut a smaller mat and  rounded one corner. I edged the right had side and bottom of the mat with strips cut from the Graphic 45 paper. I fussy cut the little boy and adhered  him to the page.

I also went through the album adding a few touches here and there to just make it more interesting. I added Glossy accents over a few swirls and around a frame on one of the pages I did earlier.

I'm not going to do anymore of the album until I've got actual pictures to put in it so I can mat the photos.

If you would like the "holey" shape you are welcome to download it from HERE

Brag book continued

Its been a good evening crafting with me carrying on with my baby brag book. I was struggling to think of ideas for each page or tag but once I got started my mojo came back.. yay. I  it over with toppers and photo mats!!did have one problem though... the Graphic 45 paper is so nice I didn't want to cover it all up!!
This page is the inside of the front cover and page 1. I kept this very simple I just mated and layered a label and adhered it inside the page.  Then I added a topper and made a lace bo for the next page.

The next two pages  I made very similar to each other. I made simple photo frames. The left was made from mirri board and decorated with brads. The opposite page frame was made using the G45 paper  strips and the corners were mitred to form the frame . A couple of embellishments finished it off.

The paper on this page was very fussy so I simply added a topper. The right had side shows the tag that goes inside the pocket. It has a simple G45 strip border and a mat and topper.

The next page has a baby grow (onsie) cut out of G45 paper and decorated with paper lace and some pearl gems. The baby grow lifts up to reveal a photo mat underneath. Some of you may have seen this before in previous albums I've made. The idea came from Laura Denison's Follow the paper trail site and her videos for Special delivery tutorials on Ustream. The tag has a flower photo mat adhered to it. I embossed the flower to give it some dimension.

This photo shows the under side of the  two tags. I still have to decorate two tags and a couple of pages. I used a free stamp I had from a magazine and some metallic flakes. The green tag simply has some peel offs decorating it.

I hope to get the album finished by the weekend because the baby is likely to arrive next week and I start back in work on Monday so I wont have much time to do any crafting next week!!!!

Thank you card

Today I made a thank you card to end to the people that helped my mother in her final days. I cut some paper from my stash and placed a band in the middle of the card. I edged that with some black gems I bought from the Poundland shop and some velvet ribbon also from my stash. I stamped the flower petals and cut them out and assembled the flower...... I think I named the stamp in a previous post. I'll find it and let you know what it is.
I used the same stamp set for the swirl pattern.
Now I just need to write a note inside and send it off.

Baby Brag book

My first grandchild is due very shortly so I thought I'd stat making a brag book for the baby.
I've used Graphics45 paper plus a few sheets from my stash which I think  are from Papermania.

I've used a Susan Lui's mini album tutorial for this because it is a quick and easy album to make.
You cut out two 6x6 inch squares and cover the front of them then adhere some ribbon across the two covers.
You cut out tow inside covers allowing room for the centre to be concertinaed. You then cout out the pages and adhere them to the folds

This is the cover. I've strengthened the spine by adding a piece of paper backed with clear duct tape. The tape allowed me to brush some glitter through the holes to add some sparkle!

The spine has been made with paper cut  using a cutting file I believe I got from Ukscrappers. I can't remember the name of the person who designed the mat so apologies for not acknowledging them.

Once you've made the cover you cut five sheets of paper  and fold them in half and adhere them together. I only adhered one page , the rest I've turned into pockets.

Next I'll have to make some tags and photo mats.  Then it'll be deciding how to decorate the pages.
Finally I have to wait fr my grandson to be born and take plenty of pictures!!

You can see the original  tutorial HERE The album is near the bottom of that webpage.

Cameo Cover

I 'm struggling to get my mojo back after the events of the last month. I'm finding it hard to start something new.

Last night I decided to update my 12 tags in 2012 album by simply cutting out, June, July and August's lettering and added them to the corresponding pockets. I adhered a couple of embellishments and that was it.
I haven't taken photo's of those because they weren't that interesting. That did give me the motivation to do something new.

I decided to make a dust cover for my Cameo. I haven't sewn for a long time so I only had a couple of offcuts I'd bought for scrapping and they were too small to use. I usually cover the machine with a cloth bag that come with a handbag I'd bought ages ago so I used that instead.
I cut the bag open and cut a rectangle just slightly larger than the width of the machine and  slightly longer than the machine. I use a piece of paper to draw around the side of the machine and use as a template. It was basically a quarter of a circle shape. I rounded off the top of the "triangle" and pinned the sides to the rectangle.
I used my sewing machine to  sew the side seams and make the hem at the bottom.
It loked a bit plain so I cut up a hair band I had and attached it to the front of the cover.
Voila!! one cover for my machine . The total cost of making it was £1.50 which was the cost of the hair band.

Oh!  by the way, the machine rests on one of those desk mats  to keep it even when I'm using it. The picture on the mat is two golden retriever puppies... you can only see the legs but they aren't attached to my machine like it  looks in the photo!! lol.

August Tag

Yes...... I have managed to do the August tag for the 12 tags in 2012 project after all.  I decided to do it after I'd written my last post. It didnt take me very long because I already had some flowers made. I simply touched up the colours with some distress inks.
I stamped the frame and embossed it with black embossing powder. I then embossed the tag with a Tri boss folder by Xcut/papermania.( I think its called beautiful. It has a stamp that matches the folder. The stamp is by Papermania and called Square Urban Stamp if thats any help).
I then rubbed over the texture with some blue Ranger paint dabber. I cut out a picture of my mother when she was young and clear embossed it to protect it and adhered it inside the frame.
I die cut the branch (Sizzix bird branch) and cut off the bird. I coloured the branch with Distress ink ( burlap) and adhered that to the tag. I cut out some leaves coloured those and adhered them and the flowers to the tag.
I printed out the words distressed them and adhered those too. I thrreaded some charms through some blue lace and threaded them through the hole in the tag to finish it off.

I dedicate this post to my wonderful mother.
 Novembr 1922 - July 2012.
I love you forever Mam xxxxx

Finished Album

I have finally got around to finishing this album. Its the one where each page is a different shape.

I covered each page with pasper from the DCWV La Creme stack. Some pages are flocked. as you can see on the front cover.

I made pockets and tags from the  stack or just plain card stock. The poppy has been cut out so that it flips open to hold a photo mat inside
The left page is in the shape of a tag and holds a pocket and tag.

The right page has two pockets layered on top of each other and tags going in different directions. The album has two pages of each shape this flower page just has peel offs decorating it with a different flower on the  other side.

I've bound the album with my Bind it all because the pages are quite thick having been made out of cereal packet cardboard.
I've decorated some pages with gems(Say it in Crystals), bows(stash), clips ( Stampin Up) and ribbons also from my stash.

You can download the cutting file from the list on the left of the blog its called 'shaped album'  I can't remember when I started this album I think I mentioned it on the 14th July so you might be able to find the link for the cutting files there too.

I can't believe we're fast approaching the end of August. The summer has gobne by in a flash. I haven't even looked at Tim Holt's  August tag yet. I think that'll have to be my next project.
Tomorrow is  my 35th wedding anniversary so I'm not sure I'll get the tag done.....   you'll just have to call back and see........ ;-)

Metallic flakes

After an emotional and difficult  fortnight when my mother passed away,  followed by  a two week break in Cornwall and finally I'm crafting again. Crafting is so good to help me relax and lift my spirits.

In Cornwall I found a lovely Craft shop called Moments in Bude.
Corrr.... sea, sand and a craft shop what more could you ask for from a holiday? I wont mention the weather because that was pretty wet putting it mildly!!  Still on wet days I browsed the craft shop so there was a silver lining to those dark wet clouds lol.  I bought a lovely "Indigo Blu" stamp (Juliet)and some metallic flakes and accessories (glue and sponge). I've been looking forward to playing with my new toys!

This is my first attempt at using the flakes. I'm very pleased with the result. They were much easier to use that I expected.
What did I do to make this card?
I covered some "Cut n Dry" sponge with the very sticky glue and used that to cover my new stamp. I briefly pressed the stamp onto black card and covered the image with the flakes. I rubbed the flakes over the glued area. Next I rubbed the sponge over the flakes. The sponge is sightly rough so removes any excess flakes to reveal the image.

I matted and layered the topper with Metallic Rose designed paper from my stash and put the onto a black card. The  colours look brighter in this photo but in reality they are a more beige/brassy colour that matches the flecks in the image.  I'll  type out an insert when I'm ready to give it away.

I'm pleased with the results and will definitely be using this metallic look again.
