Is it good enough?

I've been spending a while trying to make my own version of  a wedding card and here is my prototype.I apologise for the crumpled look to the card but.... oops blooper!... as I was moving the card  to take the photo it dropped down behind the sideboard. I couldn't move the furniture much because it was so heavy .. so I used an umbrella to push the card out.... hence the crumpled look!!

How did I make this card? I designed it on the Studio DE spftware and cut it out on my Cameo.
I latticed heart shapes to the back and sides and welded  hearts on the front and back.  I folded the sides to create a gatefold card. I cut out the couple from black card and adhered to the centre. I adhered some red mirri card tot he back of the card to give a hint of colour
I did design and cut out a heart with wings to go on the front. I cut that out with gold mirri card. I used a Marianne Serafina die to cut out the design to go in the centre of the heart. Once glued I decided I didn't like the wings so I just trimmed them off for now. That means the gold heart isn't as smoothly cut as it should be. As this is a protoype I'm not bothered because I'll cut a nicer one for the real card.
I bought some heart embellishments from Dunelm and simply added them above the couple. I guess people can persnalise it with different emebllies.

Now the big question is ... is this card good enough to release the cutting file for download??
Comment below and if the majority is yes I'll release it for download.

Honeycomb Candle (cutting file)

I've just had time to try out  a honeycomb design on my Cameo tonight. I'm not sure if honeycomb is the correct term for it but you'll know what I mean when you look at the picture.
You cut out the shaped then fold each one in half. The tear drop shapes are for the flame and the oblong shape is for the candle. I coloured the centre of each flame shape with some orange distress ink.

Glue one side of the half to the next folded shape and so on until all the pieces at stuck together. Open them out and you have the fan shape. Adhere the shapes to your card and decorate how you like.
It's a simple design but I hope someone will find it useful. You can download it from                   HERE

Hopefully I'll get back to my album tomorrow.......

I didn't do ay crafting today because it was my son's birthday. Saying that he didn't want to do anything special so I just tidied up my craft room. Things were getting a bit disorganised and I was starting to lose things.

I just spent a bit of time clearing my craft table. No pictures because its still needs some more clearing up!!

Only 4 more days or work before the summer break... and counting down!!

New album ( cutting file)

I went to our local Pink Scrapers crop today but I didn't have time to do much of my own stuff. I helped out a newcomer instead.

I did manage to cover  the pages of my new album. This one is of my own design. I dcided to make each page a different shape. I've made a flower, tab, circle and pointed square shapes. I've done two pages of each shape. The covers are simple square shapes. I cut the shapes out of cereal packets to keep the pages form. I used the Cameo so I could cut the papers to the exact shape and size making it easy to adhere the paper to the card.

You can download the album  HERE

I 'm keeping it a black, cream and red theme. I can't remember the name of the paper but I know its flocked. I'll post the name  at a later date when I go upstairs and work on it again.

I plan to bind it with my Bind it All. I haven't planed how I'm going to do the pockets that'll have to develop as I go along. I hope it turns out ok.

Its my son;s birthday tomorrow so I doubt I'll get any crafting done.. Can't believe he's 30!!

July Tag

Tonight I had a go at the Tim Holtz July tag for the "12 tags in 2012" project. I did the theme of the Welsh flag to be patriotic but something isn't quite right with it and I can't put my finger on what needs changing.
How did I do it?... weellll...... I dropped some alcohol inks onto some glossy paper and squirted it with a can of compressed air. Next I printed and cut the welsh dragon and adhered t to the glossy paper.

Next I cut the red and green card mats and edged them with some white paint dabbers. I distressed the edges with a distressing tool. I added some green paper lace at one end and a letter brad.  I threaded a union jack button and a charm and added it to the tag. Finally  I used some more alcohol inks and coloured a strip of card. I stamped a saying onto the strip then adhered it to the tag with some foam pads to give it some dimension.

I enjoyed working with the alcohol inks but I'm not convinced this is a tag I really like. Maybe I ought to edge it with some darker distress ink??? What do you think?  I'll do what all crafters  tell you to do.. I'll walk away and come back tomorrow and have another look at it.

Wedding Card

Oh My Goodness!! If you want to make some stunning cards then do go along to Tina Fitch's website that I linked in my last post. Her files are just stunning!!! This is what I made last night and just finished it off!!

I use Tina's wedding delight cutting file and assembled the card.

The card is so intricate and delicate but is easy to assemble.
I personalised it by cutting, colouring (distress ink)  and embossing the initials of the bride and groom. I also  added colour to the arch, bow and bride and groom. I gave the bride a small paper rose and again I dabbed it with some distress ink to coordinate the colour.

I added some white feathers to the bow above the arch and  to her bouquet. I finished the card with some gems from Kaiser craft. My photo's really doesn't do this card justice.

The file also comes with a box file to match the card. The top of the box is made from acetate and the lid has the same design as the card.

I am considering decorating the box with the same bow that is in the centre of the arch but it'll have to wait because I'm going  to my friends' leaving do.

Cutting files grouped

I'm still learning  how to blog. Tonight I figured out how to add links to the pages that contain my cutting files.  You'll find links to each cutting file page on the left of this blog. Hopefully it will make it easier for you to find the files.
I should point out that all my cutting files are .studio files.

Car cutting file

Oh boy who said teachers wind down towards the end of term? I must be doing something wrong because its been non stop the past few weeks and its just as busy this and next week. Roll on the holidays is all I can say!!

I've bought a cutting file from Tina Fitch's Web shop for a wedding card for a friend's daughter's wedding later this month.  Boy is this lady talented or what? her designs are just amazing! I'm going to start doing this card tonight. I doubt very much I'll get it finished today because it looks very complicated.  I just hope I don't make too many bloopers!!

I thought I'd leave you a cutting file I made. Its of the car that I used for my son's card. This file has been changed to make the card in the shape of the car. Ignore the red line down the right hand side. It's there because this computer isn't hooked up to my Cameo. You an add your own car logo as well as the name on the number plate to personalise it.

You can download it from HERE

Birthday Boy

Where does the time go? You give birth to these lovely little babies and before you know it they're all grown up! Its my second son's 30th birthday next week so I thought I ought to get a card made.
Its a simple design of a car because he is car mad. He's been changing all the bits in his engine and on the front to look like Opel. I have no idea why he would want to spend his money doing that but hey ho thats  is fun LOL.

I traced and cut out the car shape with the Cameo and also welded the wording. I cut out a slightly smaller outline of the car from glitter paper and offset the words to create a mat for them. I then adhered them all onto the card. I traced and cut the Opel logo and added that to the grill.
I cut the glitter card with glitter side down onto the mat to protect the blade. This meant I had to reverse the wording  otherwise it would come out back to front. Not that I forgot to do that on my first attempt of course!! cough cough!! I secured the paper with some masking tape to stop it slipping.
Lastly I drew the number plate using gel pens instead of the blade in the Cameo and edged the card with some peel offs.
Next I;m going to make a wedding card for  a friends daughter. I've bought the file so now I'm going to cut it out. It looks complicated to wish me luck!!

Bird bookmarks

Its been another busy day... and evening. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as getting my work sorted by the end of term. I didn't get off the phone much this evening. Its one of those days when everyone rings me to chat!! It was nice catching up on the news and gossip I have to say LOL.

Two of my pupils have been admiring the bird book mark I made a while  back so I made them one each  in between phone calls.
I downloaded the file from another blog page.
You can find the cutting files on this site scale-files.blogspot.co.uk
I cut the base bird  then copied and flipped the patterned bird so they could be adhered to both sides of the base shape. Once cut, I heat embossed the patterned paper to give it some strength. I adhered the patterned paper to both sides of the base shape and added some gems for the eyes. I made them identical so the children won't argue over who gets what colour.
I hope they will like them.
