Flowers

I finally got around to making my flowers. I've also made a white rose as well to use on my layout at the next crop. I've got to make a few more for some cards I'm making. I started with white card I used  a flower stamp onto the card then cut out the shapes. I coloured the petals with distress inks and stamped  the pattern onto the petals using my "Inkssential" stamps. I don't have time to add a tutorial so I'll link to a Utube  video that uses the same basic method but with different flower die shapes. You can find it here.
I just love stamping the different patterns onto the petals before constructing the flowers.

Life is fragile

I didn't get around to making the flowers I had intended to make tonight. This week has been very busy and I didn't get home until late so haven't had time to start the flowers.

Instead I added two pages to my journal. The first was simply adhering the parking warning I got at the hospital when I was visiting my mother. I forgot to pay ... ahh well!  I don't mind , I overstayed my time with my mother but it was worth it. It was during this visit that she started to drink fluids for the first time in two weeks. She's been slowly improving ever since.

The next page I painted black and stamped  some butterflies and embossed them using white embossing powder. I painted them with iridescent water colour paints I bought at the craft show. I then wrote Life is fragile. Life is fragile because it can be snuffed out or fade away at any time, but like the butterfly many will continue to survive.

Water bottle

Just a quicky post tonight to show my latest vinyl project. Its my water bottle. I used Kingthings Willow font and  Oracal 651 vinyl.
With an unusual christian name its rare to be able to buy something with my name on it unless its ordered especially. It sound silly but I'm just so chuffed to have something with my name on...... I'm a big kid really!!!

I went to a craft show on Saturday but didn't buy much. I did buy a flower stamp set so I'm keen to try that out. I hope to make some flowers tomorrow.........

Vinyl

As you can see my vinyl has arrived and I've been having a play with it. I bought a couple of lunch boxes for myself and my son to use for work.

I used the Studio  software to write our names and select some decorative cutting files. The swirl is from Ukscrappers, I think. Apologies if I got that wrong ( I can't remember where I got it from). The pear and Wall-e shapes were created by me. You can download the pear cutting file from my earlier post. Just scroll a few posts down.

It took me  two attempts to do the shapes because I didn't have to correct cutting settings for the first ones so the background didn't peel away properly and I ended up with a sticky crumpled lump of vinyl!

I adjusted the cutting settings and it cut like a dream. Transferring the vinyl to the plastic boxes was easier than I expected too.

I just hope it wasn't beginer's luck and I mess up the next project!
I'm going to write my name on my drinks bottle next. Te bottle is curved so that's going to be interesting to do!!
Wish me luck!!

blossoms

I felt like doing  little bit of my journaling today. The page was inspired by some art displays on the wall of one of the schools I visit. The  year 2 children have been painting spring blossoms. They were so lovely I decided to do  something similar in my journal.

I painted the background with yellow  and metallic white acrylic paint. I drew the branch/tree with black Pitt pen. I added the "blossoms" by dabbing the pink and green paint with the eraser end of a pencil. Ill add some wording when the paint dries.
I haven't done  any journaling for a while so it was lovely getting back to the paints. Its very easy and simple to do and I do like the simplicity of the page.
I have an urge to do a canvas soon too..... , My next adventure is to try using vinyl with my Cameo. I've ordered some  but I'll have to have a think on what to use it .. .... me thinks it's time to search out some tutorials for it!!

Great Day

I had a great day at the crop. The mini class went well and we had a good laugh at me chatting to a lady who turned out to be a neighbour but we hadn't met before! That's really bad but I live back off the road so I tend to be in my car and our paths never crossed. Still, we got on very well so I'm sure we'll make the effort to see each other in future.
I did a little bit more of my baby album and finished the May part of my mini album by adding some lettering to the page.
I simply cut out the letters, adhered them to the page and then added some faux stitching. The rest of the time I spend just chatting. LOL.... It was a good day!

12 tags in 2012 May

Hellooo crafters!! Its been a relaxing afternoon crafting with the Crafty friends group.
This is my attempt at the May tag for Tim Holtz tag challenge. I covered a  brown tag with some old sewing patterns then stamped a pattern design on the right hand... over the writing on the pattern and the scissors at the bottom of the tag. I used Teal Stazon for that. I wrapped some measuring tape ribbon around the tag. I cut the dress form  from navy blue card and wrapped some bakers twine around it and tied it with a button. I adhered that to the card. I drew some faux stitching around the tag. Next I made a pin cushion. I cut out some flower shapes and layered them to form  a flower base. Next I cut a makeup sponge into a rounded shape and wrapped it in tissue paper stained with distress ink. I adhered some flowers onto some pin heads and stuck them into the pin cushion with some other pins.  I think the pin cushion goes well with the theme of the tag.

Now I have to decorate the May page in my  Tag album....

Name Tag

Its the Chepstow Pink Scrappers crop on Saturday and the challenge is to make your own name tag so I've used the Studio software to design this one. I used one of Penny Duncan Creation Shaplies as the basic shape then latticed the centre.  I  used deep pink holographic  Mirri Board for  the base and my name. I then used silver holographic mirri board for the top.

I adhered the two layers and added flowers to finish it off. I'm definitely speeding up because it didn't take me very long to do. It would have taken me days to do a few months ago!!

I'm so looking forward to the crop but nervous at the same time because I'm doing the mini class.

90th Birthday

It' was my aunt's 90th birthday a few days ago and its only now I've had a chance to make a card for her. I've stuck to welded word cards just because it is fairly quick and easy to do. I designed the card in Studio software and cut out  the card on my Cameo. I cut a slightly smaller one  on patterned paper and layered it onto the card.

I cut out some of the flowers from the patterned paper and decoupaged them onto a flower shaped  piece of card and attached it to the main card using bakers twine. A few gems and acetate butterflies finished it off.
Tim Holtz has posted the May 12 tags in 2012 sstowo I need to go and have a look at that and maybe I'll make it at the Chepstow Pink Scrappers Crop on Saturday. I wont have time to do a layout because I'm doing the demo for the hidden message card/brag book.
Can't wait for the crop, its going to be fun!!

Box 2

I'm back!! Having had an operation a couple of years ago  to solve a tummy problem I was very surprised to have the problem reoccur this week. Lets hope it was a one off bout.  I'm better but my mother was taken into hospital yesterday so I spend the night with her. She has  improved a little today but is not yet out of danger... geesh it never rains but pours doesn't it?
I've been having another attempt at altering  a box this evening. It came together much quicker than the last one. I decided to go for  a different look so I used some metallic acryllic paint to paint the box  in silver and distressed it with pewter. I embossed some metallic foil adhesive tape  and covered the lid and part of the base. I used pewter to age that as well.

I covered the inside of the box with red animal  skin textured card.

I made some zip flowers by curing some old zips and gluing them with my new glue gun. I coated some small red flowers with UTEE and  let them cool. I adhered the flowers and some charms onto the box to decorate the top. I adhered some silver beads to the bottom to finish it off.

I treated myself to a small nozzle glue gun  and some new glue sticks from Amazon. Its great because the glue comes out  in much smaller flow so it easier to manage and better for gluing small pieces.
I don't know what I did wrong but I ordered two guns by mistake. I'll have to send one back. That's  soooooo annoying because I'll have to pay for the postage because it was my fault.  Ah well it could have been worse I could have ordered 4!
